We're Back!
Last year, the 9th
Indonesian Film Festival (IFF) was successfully held in two of the most prominent cities in Australia – from 24th April – 3rd May 2014 at the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne, and from 25th April – 27th April 2014 at the Event Cinemas in Sydney.
The 9th IFF screenings caught the attention of a wide audience through the range of quality films presented, such as Comic 8, Sokola Rimba, What They Don’t Talk About When They Talk About Love, and 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa. A major attraction of our film festival is the lineup of prominent film industry special guests that we endeavor to bring to all our screenings. Seminars and post-screening Q&A sessions with directors, producers and actors, such as Mira Lesmana, Hanung Bramantyo, Anggy Umbara and Raline Shah, have been extremely popular. These discussions with the filmmakers offer our audience added value not available at regular film screenings, and often give a surprisingly frank discourse on the film industry.
A total of more than 1,500 people attended the 9th IFF event in Melbourne – experiencing a 30% increase in comparison to the previous IFF events. Moreover, attendance by, non-Indonesians, from the wider multicultural Australian community had also increased. This is a great accomplishment for IFF as its main goal is to introduce Indonesian culture to foreign audiences through the use of motion pictures.
This year, marking the 10th anniversary of the festival, IFF is set to come back bigger, better and more spectacular. Presenting the theme of “Another Face of Indonesia”, IFF 2015 aims to not only exhibit the Indonesian film industry but also other aspects of entertainment that express the rich and diverse culture of Indonesia to its global spectators. Additionally, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, IFF comes with a new, fresher and more colourful face; a brand new logo and a new grand design.
